I decided to loosen the timing belt tensioner to get access to all the cylinder head bolts. The sealant has been used on the camshaft head to hold it down. The TDI is shown to be 45% more reliable than the average car while the gasoline powered Golf is 30% more reliable than the average car. Apparently the catastropic HPFP failures are extremely rare as it would not take but a few of these reported to CU to tank the reliability ratings. Y.
